
The 2nd Consensus Conference on the Safety of Intravenous Drug Delivery was recently convened to reassess and prioritize the safety of available IV drug delivery systems. The proceedings from this conference were published in early 2009 in the American Journal of Health System Pharmacy. This program will review the key issues discussed at the conference and discuss the implications for pharmacists and pharmacy leaders.

Michael D. Sanborn, M.S., R.Ph., FASHPMichael D. Sanborn oversees cardiac services for all Baylor entities, with a focus on improving patient outcomes, medication use, program development, marketing, clinical research, and contracting. Sanborn’s previous experience includes pharmacy leadership positions in health-systems and academic medical centers. He received his degrees from the University of Kansas and completed an accredited practice residency and advanced administrative residency.
Sanborn has chaired the ASHP Council on Professional Affairs, served on the Council of Administrative Affairs, House of Delegates, and has held elected offices for several state and local societies. Most recently he completed a two-year term as President of the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He has received numerous awards and honors, including ASHP’s Distinguished Leadership Award and the Harold N. Godwin Legacy Award. Sanborn has published articles and presented in a multitude of areas related to pharmacy practice and leadership.
