Thomas Z. Hayward, MD, MBA, FACS, CNSP is Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine and Medical Director of Nutrition Support Service/TPN at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also an Attending Surgeon, Trauma Service and General Surgery, Wishard Hospital. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and an MBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He has given local, regional, and national presentations and has published book chapters and peer reviewed journal articles. Dr. Hayward’s interests center around continuous quality improvements and cost effectiveness in the delivery of health care. Specifically, he is interested in improving decision making in trauma, critical care, and emergency services through the use of registry data, systematic review, and decision analysis. Carol S. Ireton-Jones, PhD, RD,CNSD, FACN is a Nutrition Therapy Specialist and Executive Vice-President for Professional Nutrition Therapists in Dallas, Texas. She is a member of the Clinical Faculty for the Department of Clinical Nutrition at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and Adjunct graduate faculty for Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. She received her PhD in nutrition from the Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas, where she also lectures in the Department of Food and Nutrition. Dr. Ireton-Jones has published in various books and journals, writing about enteral and parenteral nutrition, the role of nutrition in the small intestine, and nutritional care for burn victims, and she is a recipient of the American Dietetic Association’s Medallion Award.

Dr. Klein is also Clinical Professor of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine, where he also completed an internal medicine residency and a nephrology fellowship. Dr. Klein is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology. He has presented data on Parenteral Nutrition at the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and has published numerous journal articles and book chapters, including topics related to renal failure and fluid and electrolyte metabolism.

Dr. Canada is a nutrition support pharmacist providing care for patients of MD Anderson Cancer Center receiving specialized nutrition support. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and Nutrition in Clinical Practice, as well as being a regional internship institutional coordinator for the Galveston/Houston area and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Dr. Canada has served on the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) Board of Directors. He was the recipient of the A.S.P.E.N. Distinguished Nutrition Support Pharmacist Service Award in 2011.

Dr. Gupta is the Director of Endoscopy at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children. He also heads the Riley Pediatric OverWeight Education and Research (POWER) program. He has been a recipient of the Trustees Teaching Award at Indiana University and the 2008 Faculty Teaching Award from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is a member of several organizations including the American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition,. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Gupta is the author of over 150 journal articles, letters, abstracts, and book chapters. He is a manuscript reviewer for numerous journals and serves on various committees at the local and national levels. Dr. Gupta has delivered over 100 lectures/invited talks. His research interests include esophageal diseases, including gastroesophageal reflux and allergic eosinophilic esophagitis, pediatric endoscopy, pediatric nutrition/obesity.

In addition to his surgical duties at Michigan State University, Dr. Morrison serves as the Fellowship Director for the Program in Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Morrison received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences, Washington DC, in 1991. He finished his residency training in General Surgery at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in 1997 and then went on to complete a fellowship in Trauma and Critical Care at the University of Maryland and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in 2001. Dr. Morrison has been recognized with numerous honors and awards including Outstanding Educator Award, Michigan State University General Surgery Residency in 2011 and a Bronze Star for Meritorious Service in Iraq in 2004. Dr. Morrison has published numerous articles on trauma and critical care in both military and civilian settings. Dr. Morrison has lectured extensively across the United States on medical care for trauma patients.

Dr. Pounds is also an adjunct Professor at Mercer University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. Dr. Pounds received her bachelor of science in pharmacy degree and her PharmD degree from Mercer University in 1982 and 1983, respectively. She completed her post-doctoral residency in 1984 at the Georgia Baptist Hospital, which later became the Georgia Baptist Medical Center and then the Atlanta Medical Center. She has received several awards from her alma mater, including the Roche Preceptor of the Year Award and the Pharmacist of the Year Award. Dr. Pounds is active in a number of professional organizations, including the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. Dr. Pounds has made more than 75 professional presentations on such timely topics as Medical and Nutritional Management of Patients, Parenteral Nutrition, Parenteral and Enteral Products, Metabolic Support in Specific Disease States, DVT Prophylaxis in the Medically Ill Patient, MRSA Presentations, and Invasive Fungal Infections.
